Welcome to Mark Jones Media – the online home of the work of Mark Jones. Working in both freelance and employed roles Mark has crafted a wide range of content, from copy to 3D-printed chocolate heads.
Mark’s goal is to create unique content that entertains as much as it informs (and occasionally tastes good). This is achieved by tuning into original ideas and finding the element of fun in every job.
From Copywriting to Content Creation
Mark started freelancing as a copywriter for online publications, writing about video games, mobile phones and technology.
After the blogging freebies dried up (he still owns a 128MB Sims 3 USB stick) he fell into opportunities where he found himself honing a range of other skills in a professional environment. Working for small startups such as Choc Edge, and volunteering on projects at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum, has helped Mark to demonstrate his ability to produce different types of engaging content.
Content with Stories
Mark likes stories and knows that content is most effective when it tells one. That story could be a brand’s message, an important piece of news, or an actual story with princesses and dragons and stuff. If content isn’t telling a story, then it’s probably a bit boring.
He’s also well into the nuts and bolts of how creating content works, whether that’s copywriting, photography, design, or web development. Mark’s portfolio is based on a solid understanding of everything from sentence structure, grammar, f-stops and apertures, to page masters, vector graphics, PHP Templates, and the latest cool things you can do with HTML5 and CSS3. In short – no flukes allowed.
Mark regularly uses the Adobe Creative Suite to create content, working in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro. He’s come a long way since the early days of learning on cracked software suites, and freeware like GIMP and Inkscape (which he’d still recommend). Over the years some of the things he has done include:
- Web Design
- Graphic Design
- Video Editing
- 3D Design for Food Printing
- Green Screen Activities
Mark is a maker of all the things that can help a brand to market it itself. He currently works at Exeter City Futures where he is the Creative Lead.
